Corroded or Damaged Battery Terminals

Check as follows:‪

1. Visually inspect terminals for corrosion or damage.
   1. If corrosion or damage is not found, check for loose connections, go to step 2 .
   2. If corrosion or damage is found, repair is necessary; go to step 2 .
2. Repair or replace any corroded or damaged terminals and tighten any loose connections; refer to OEM guidelines.

   ENGINE EXHAUST ‪
   To avoid injury from inhaling engine exhaust, always operate the engine in a well-ventilated area. Engine exhaust is toxic.‪

3. Attempt to start and run the engine.
   1. If the engine starts and runs, no further troubleshooting is required. Shut down the engine.
   2. If the engine fails to start and run, check for a defective starter, refer to "5.4 Defective Starter" .
